What to do around town

Beaches
A quick trip on the ferry will take you to some of the most beautiful, beaches in Portugal with clear turquoise water. Surrounded by several islands, take your pick of beaches on one of the nearby islands such as Ilha da Culatra/Ilha do Farol, Ilha de Armona or Ilha Deserta. The further you stroll down the long stretches of white sand, the more secluded the beaches become. Explore the beaches facing the Ria Formosa lagoon such as Praia da Fuseta with its calm and turquoise blue water perfect for families and water sports such as paddle boarding.

Eat and Drink
Olhão is the perfect town for lovers of seafood and other southern Portuguese specialties. The fish and shellfish is always fresh, often coming out of the water that very morning; you will not be disappointed. No matter what you are in the mood for, there are small restaurants and cafes everywhere you turn, all fresh, local and delicious.

Around town
In this quiet seaside town, there’s much to see much to do. You can stroll down the promenade with all of its cafes and shops, or wind your way through the small back streets with their charming whitewashed houses.
The churches and museums in town reflect Olhão’s long and rich history as a fishing town. One of the highlights of the town is the local market where most days you can buy local produce and other specialties, seafood lovers will rejoice in one of the largest fish markets in the southern Portugal.

Further Afar
You'll be staying right in the heart of the Algarve region where there is so much to experience. It's a quick 15 minute drive to the city of Faro where you can visit the regions capital city rich with history, varied architecture and little charming streets.
If you're looking for something different, you can take a tour at a local cork farm, or the nearby olive groves, and taste the incredible olive oil all made on site. Hike along the Ria Formosa Natural Park and enjoy the nature and wildlife. The ferry’s leaving from the port of Olhão can take you to the smaller villages located on the area islands, where you can discover the unique architecture, and culture of these tiny island communities.
